Trooper Mackelprang, Iron County

“Hi, I just wanted to write and say thank you to Trooper Scott Mackelprang. On September 28, 2019, I hit something on SR-14 and lost control of my vehicle, which went off the road, and hit several downed trees and small boulders before coming to a rest. I thought I was going to die and was in a state of complete shock. I kept crying and couldn’t pull myself together. Scott was very kind to me and kept trying to keep me calm and was so nice to me through everything. He stayed with me until the tow truck driver collected me; I was miraculously not seriously injured. Police do not get enough thanks for the work they do. Scott made a huge difference to me that day and I won’t soon forget that he was there when I was far from home, scared, and unsure what had just happened. Thank you for everything you do.” – A. “Last night in South bound traffic about 106th South, my daughter hit something in the road and ended up with a flat tire. She was scared and unsure of what to do. She called me in tears. At that same time a UHP Highway Patrol Trooper pulled up and offered to change her tire. He was very kind to her and even complimented her on how she had handled a front flat. While this may seem very insignificant to most, it was a huge deal to her and to me as a parent (who couldn’t get there and probably couldn’t have gotten the tire off). This Trooper was not in uniform so she couldn’t get a badge number or a name. I just want to say thank you, his service was very much appreciated. He went above and beyond to help her out.”

Trooper Zilles, Box Elder County

“Hey I wanted to thank Trooper Justin Zilles for his service last night. He gave my husband a warning regarding the tinted back lights on our new to us car, going over the legality and dangers of tinted lights as well as going so far as to give us idea and advice on removal. Well his advice worked great! We removed the tint today. Thank you Trooper Zilles.” – C. Reardon

Sgt. Prescott, Tooele County

“I would like to commend Sgt. Andrew Prescott for his actions on I-80 today.  My husband and I were heading to Park City for the night when a tire on our trailer blew.  Within minutes of pulling over, Sgt. Prescott pulled up behind us and changed the tire for us.  My husband is a disabled vet so changing the tire would have been a team event which would have taken much longer than it did. We are so appreciative of his actions” – V. O’Loughlin

“I appreciate the effort that was displayed yesterday by an officer and the assistance member of the Utah Highway Patrol during a tire blowout on Southbound I-15 close to exit 288. The officer’s name is William and was fast, efficient and provided clear communications for our safety on the busy interstate. Thank you very much for your team of professionals.” – B. Bowers
