“I must say I was impressed about 2 weeks ago as I drove by a Highway Patrol Trooper changing a tire for an elderly gentleman off to the side of I-15 near Pleasant Grove/Lindon heading Southbound. No idea who the Trooper was or the elderly man, but made me happy to live in the area I do and to see service like this given. Thank you!” – S. Mikkelson

Trooper Law, Davis County

“I would like to extend a personal comment for the assistance that I received on Friday July 26, 2019. At approximately 1645 I was southbound on I-15 near the Legacy Parkway exit in the HOV lane when my left front tire blew and the entire casting of the tire rolled pass me! I was stopped against the concrete barrier! I called 911 and the dispatcher was extremely kind trying to figure out my location, I was a “little” panicked! She managed to get a Trooper to me, much relieved!! Trooper Law requested assistance to stop traffic and assisted me to the right shoulder of the road and then requested help from the Incident Management Team. Mr. M. Simonsen arrived and he and Trooper Law changed my tire for me!! I feel that this was above and beyond for these gentlemen!! Please pass along my personal THANK YOU to both of these individuals for me!! Sincerely with gratitude.” E. Maas

Trooper Mecham, Salt Lake County

“Thank you to Trooper J. Mecham who helped me safely get my car off I-15 in Draper after it broke down. (07/25/2019 Draper, I-15 Northbound around 2:30pm) My transmission was having issues and I was unable to travel at freeway speeds so I was worried to try to get to an exit. I was pulled over on the side of the freeway and Officer Mecham stoped and told me if my car wasn’t moved in 2 hours it would need to be towed. He offered to help escort me off the freeway if I could get my car moving. He safely escorted my broken-down car off the freeway so I could safely find the issue with my car and have it towed. I am so thankful for Officer Mecham and the many other officers like him who help keep all of us safe. Thank you UHP!” – G. Marberger

Trooper Gonzalez, Utah County

“Tonight I had an incredibly stressful night where my truck broke down in I-15 southbound in Lehi in a very precarious spot. Trooper Gonzalez with the UHP pulled up and was super helpful. The lights on my truck didn’t work and was in a very bad spot where it could have likely been hit – Trooper Gonzalez stayed behind the truck with his lights on until the tow truck arrived which I was incredibly grateful for. He said he doesn’t like recognition but I don’t care – please give him some kind of recognition for this. There may be more than one Trooper Gonzalez in the UHP, so to narrow it down a little, he has been in the UHP for about a year now and was working in Lehi last night.” – A. Millis

Trooper Black, Cache County

“Just before midnight on Tuesday, July 23rd I was travelling home from Idaho with my 3 children. We ran out of gas on I-15 in Brigham City. We live in Ogden, so I called my husband to bring us gas and we waited. However, it was dark, late, and a little unnerving when cars would pass us and shake our car. It was especially stressful for my 8 year old son. I tried to stay positive and distract him, but he was still nervous. After about 10-15 minutes of waiting a patrolman showed up behind us. Trooper T. Black was a literal answer to my prayers. As soon as he made contact, he put my son at ease. He was kind, understanding, and talked to my son the entire time until my husband arrived. He provided stickers and stuffed animals to my children as well. He told us stories and made sure to remind us to always wear our seat belts. He wasn’t judgmental of my poor judgment that put us in that predicament. He helped my husband when he arrived with the gas can and again was nothing but kind and friendly. I can’t say enough positive about our experience that evening. He turned what could have been a scary and negative situation into a positive one that me and especially my 8 year old will never forget. Trooper Black is a great representative of your department and deserves to be recognized as such.” – M. West

Trooper Wahlberg, Salt Lake County

“I know you guys get a lot of negative feedback, so I just need to share my experience, plus no matter what the job I think it’s important to hear positive feedback. I was pulled over by one of your officers, Tara I think? Badge ID 459. Anyway, I had a tail light out and expired registration. I like to think of myself as a well educated woman, but when it comes to car stuff…I’m basically useless. I admitted that I’ve basically always depended on my dad or my ex to take care of everything, and instead of belittling or discouraging me, she basically walked me through exactly what I need to do to take care of everything. She was kind, helpful, and encouraging. I totally earned this ticket, but guess what? Now I know how to avoid this in the future and how to fix it, because she gave me those necessary tools! It’s hard for me to admit ignorance, so I’m just extra grateful to her for the way she handled the situation. I hope this message makes it to her, and I hope you continue to hire awesome people like her!” – M. Maxwell

Trooper Martin, Box Elder County

“I want to send a great big Thank You to for having such wonderful Men and Women that work for your Highway Patrol Units. J. Martin out of your office in Brigham City came the the rescue of a Greyhound Bus broke down on the side of Highway I-84 on Friday July 19th, 2019 at about 0845 in the morning. He asked us what we needed and how he could help our driver and another passenger talked with him and asked if he could possible get some water for the others on board Bus Trip 1343. This Trooper without thought of money back brought 2 cases of water and several large cups from a station up the road. I was so grateful for what he did. It’s not very often that you hear of what good our Police and Troopers do and I want to spread the word and let you know personally that he is a well trained trooper and thoughtful human being. Please make sure that he knows how grateful I and my daughters are and I’m sure the other passengers are as well. Thanks once again to J. Martin of the Utah Highway Patrol.” – M. Henderson

“I just wanted to say thank you to the UHP Troopers for the jobs they do, and for the compassion they show. My sister was pulled over today because she was driving too fast. She was very upset and having a terrible day. While the Trooper was totally in the right to pull her over for her speed he didn’t just give her a ticket and move on. Instead he talked to her about what was going on and treated her with such respect and kindness, helping her to calm down and to be able to face the rest of her day with much better perspective. I wish so much she’d gotten his name so I could thank him personally, but I know he’s one example of the fine people of UHP. Thank you Troopers!” J. Brown

Sgt. Jensen, Sanpete County

“I want to thank Sgt. Jared Jensen for helping us on 5/22/2019 After my 45 days of radiation treatments and medical issues of my wife. I decided to rent a car in Vegas and road trip to to a few National Parks. We were emotionally feeling down and while driving on the wide open highway in Utah and driving a brand new car, I did not realize how fast we were going. Sgt. Jensen pulled us over and I believe he could see how upset we were and I told him briefly about our problems. He had such a good demeanor about him. He smiled and talked to us with great respect and took my license and cards. After he checked me out he gave me a warning instead of a ticket which made a difference in our entire trip. WE WERE TRULY GRATEFUL. He was a gentleman and compassionate toward us. I believe that Officers should be recognized for the good things they do. Officers should also know that people like me really appreciate when they do good deeds. It seems nowadays the only recognition officers get is negativity. So I want to say to all officers like Sgt. Jensen – THANK YOU!”-  P. Van Horn

“We stopped on I 15 to secure our camper shell. When an awesome trooper pulled up just to make sure we were all right.  So grateful for all you guys do and the kindness you show! Wish I would have gotten his info but if you hear of a trooper who made a quick stop in Payson just on the off ramp, let him know we appreciate him!”  – K.
