Sgt. Freckleton & Trooper Gonzalez, Utah County

“We just wanted to give a HUGE thanks to Colton & Fiver. On the 8th of December, there was a massive oil spill on 1-15 Northbound and while we were sitting in traffic, on our way to the airport and already running really late, we heard a sound and realized our rear tire was flat on our van. We were very panicked, trapped in traffic on the shoulder off of the carpool lane (near Adobe) with no help in sight when they suddenly appeared, closed off the lane and helped us. We didn’t know that we had a spare tire on our Sienna and they found it for us bolted underneath the underbody of the van. They got their clothing all dirty kneeling in the mucky, slushy snow, first to remove the spare, then to replace our tire. Our spare was flat and they even had a compressor on hand and pumped that up. They were our amazing ministering angels that day (in a tough, manly way) and we will forever be grateful for the service they rendered on our behalf. THANK YOU!!!” – D. Kettles

Trooper Heywood and Sgt. Christensen, Davis County

“On Friday, October 28th, about 8:30 PM, I was traveling southbound on interstate 15 near milepost 331 and experienced a blow out of my right rear tire. I pulled over to the nearest shoulder which was the left shoulder, a dangerous situation. I called the Davis County dispatch for UHP assistance. A young trooper arrived and, as his partner (a Sgt) slowed traffic had me move to the right side of the interstate, where he quickly changed my tire. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I believe the officer’s name was Haywood (or near to that). His help was greatly appreciated!!! My thanks and gratitude to him(!), his sergeant, and the UHP organization for your service. He gets a hug – Ok, a handshake – and all of you deserve a raise. Stay safe, and thanks again for your assistance.” – T. McFarland

We had a very pleasant encounter with this officer when he came to assist us in a tow vehicle we lost on the center divider. He was extremely courteous and helpful. We are lucky to have such an outstanding officer assist us. He is a great asset to you State and the Division he serves. Thank you.” – V. Fazzino

Trooper Holland, Salt Lake County

“I wanted to reach out and thank your organization for the effort and dedication of Trooper Holland. My adult children were traveling through Utah when my daughter lost her backpack on the highway. Trooper Holland found this backpack with her boarding pass inside. He quickly called the airline along with my company (the backpack had my company logo on it) and eventually found my number to let me know the issue. He was extremely pleasant and professional. He even made arrangements to make sure my daughter’s belongings were safely returned to her. I would like to note that Trooper Holland is an example of what police work should be. As a father I really appreciate his dedication to public service.” – M. Palm

Trooper M. Hansen, Salt Lake County

I am writing this on behalf of my son. Last Friday night 09/23/2022 at approximately 8:30 PM my son had an incident where his car stopped working while driving home on the 201. He was between I 215 and Bangerter Highway when his car broke down. One of your Highway Patrol Troopers stopped to assist him. He took the time to help my son find what the problem was and proceeded to help him with getting his serpentine belt back on, helped get him back on the road, and then safely across three lanes of traffic. At this point, he helped discuss what options he had available to help get his car taken care of. He left after they talked for another incident, I am assuming, but came back later with a brand-new serpentine belt for my son.  He then took the time to help my son figure out what they needed to do to get the new belt on and in place because of other belts that were in the way. He stuck there with him until his wife showed up. He was extremely professional and nice throughout this entire experience with my son. He wanted to express how grateful he was for the treatment he received from this trooper that stressful night. As his parents, my wife and I are grateful as well and extremely impressed by the behavior of this State Trooper. He went well above and beyond the call of duty for our son and we recognize it and appreciate his service. He may not remember the experience but my son and his parents sure will! Please convey our respect and gratitude to this fine young man who served our son. Thanks for all you do!” – Slaugh
