Trooper Penman, Garfield County
“I am writing this note to compliment a member of your force, Trooper Andrew Penman. My wife and I were traveling from our home in Sandy to Kanab for the weekend, when are car broken down without warning on HWY 89 about 10 miles from Panguitch. What made this breakdown even more difficult is that there was no cell service in that canyon. Along came Trooper Penman who not only helped us out, (we got a tow truck to St. George for repairs) but he was COVID safe, polite and a pleasure to deal with. Just wanted to pass on this positive engagement with a member of the Utah Highway Patrol.” – J. Leask

Trooper Mike Powell, Utah County
“Today we had a tire blowout coming through Price Canyon. We were unable to unsecure the spare from underneath the truck. We had no cell service and were unable to contact emergency roadside assistance through our insurance company. It was cold and I had my special needs son in the truck but he was quickly getting agitated. As a last resort, we called 911 to get help and were immediately and kindly directed to dispatch. Within 15 minutes Trooper Mike Powell showed up to save the day. He was professional and kind. He had us back on the road in no time. With all the negative focus on law enforcement lately, I wanted to report the positive. I am so grateful for all the men and women who put themselves in situations to help and protect. I am especially thankful for Trooper Powell today and the 911 operator and dispatch operator. Thank you!!!!” – N. LaRoque

Trooper J. Taylor, Salt Lake County
“I got a flat tire this morning on my way to work. My SmartCar doesn’t have a spare tire, so I hitchhiked and Trooper Taylor picked me up on 800 North in Orem and took me the rest of the way. Feeling pretty blessed that I got a flat on a busy road, and that he would go out of his way to help me get to work on time.” – R. Jeffries

Trooper K. Jensen, Salt Lake County
“Just wanted to let Trooper Kelly Jensen know how much I appreciate her. It was a very off day for me and she was extremely kind, understanding, and helpful. Even though I did receive a citation, she had me laughing and smiling by the time I left. Thank you officer Jensen for the most enjoyable traffic stop I’ve ever had.” – L. Leavitt

Trooper D. Adams, Emery County
“Hello, my husband and I were pulled over on 12/19/20 in Emery County on I-70, outside of city limits at milepost 140. I wanted to write and tell you that, if you can consider being pulled over delightful, it was. Trooper Dakota Adams was efficient, polite, and properly accommodating to our COVID-19 concerns. He was a shining example of proficiency and professionalism and I wanted to share how much we enjoyed our interactions with him. Keep up the good work!” – A. Sawaya

Trooper Bihari, Salt Lake County
“I just wanted to share a very kind gesture that a Utah Highway Patrol Trooper did for me while I was driving alone in the evening with my 4-year-old son. I got a flat tire and my car was broken down along the freeway ramp going from I-15 Northbound to I-80 eastbound. Cars were whizzing by going 70 miles an hour. I was scared to even open my car door. And this was the worst place to try to fix a flat tire. It was dark outside and a car could easily plow into me and my car at any moment. I had called a tow truck company and they were 90 minutes out. And Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Zoltan Vihari came up to ask if I was ok. He then changed my tire in a very dangerous place so I could get on with my evening. I was so relieved and grateful. I just wanted to share what a nice deed he did for me that night so I could avoid being stuck there, hit and incur towing expenses. My spare donut tire was not even inflated all the way and he had a compressor to give my tire more air so I could drive on it. He was such a big help. Please thank Trooper Zoltan Bihari from the bottom of my heart.” – A. Frenz
October 15, 2020, reported December 14th
“On Oct. 15th near the Toquerville exit my family and I were pulled over. We were driving a white Yukon XL and it was around 7:10 in the morning. I wish I could remember his name but it was an emergency and very chaotic. The upshot is this guy understood our situation and allowed us on our journey. I would like to give a shoutout to the UHP and particularly this officer. UHP should understand he represents this law enforcement agency very well. I really really wish I would have got his name as he deserves a very big thank you. For the UHP, he represents you all very well. Thank You whomever you are, Bless you all.” – O. Bliss

Trooper Black, Cache County
“I just want to take a moment to thank Trooper Black. We were involved in an accident last Friday. He was helpful and calming. I witnessed him risking his own safety to aid others involved. Yes, I did receive a ticket. But as I thanked for the ticket, I need him to know that the smile was genuine. I truly appreciate all of the responders that evening.” – M. Wright
