Sgt. Loveland, Summit County
“I wanted to take a moment to thank Sgt. Kade Loveland #336 of the UHP. On 11/30/20 he stopped me & issued a speeding warning in Wanship, Summit County. He was very professional & courteous. I thought I would be receiving a ticket but I very much appreciate that he chose to provide the written warning instead. We’re not locals and mistakenly missed the speed reduction signage. We did travel back through this area again returning home and were extremely mindful of the posted signs! Thank you all for your ongoing hard work. Stay safe.” – D. Tucker

Trooper West, Emery County
I would like to commend Officer Tyler West (Badge ID: 507) for his display of exceptional professionalism during a routine safety patrol stop on I-70 in Emery County on November 18, 2020. Trooper West’s conduct and demeanor exhibited during this event transformed what would typically be a stressful and traumatic experience into one that was calm and relaxed (and educational). Trooper West clearly and courteously explained the reason for the traffic stop and the potential repercussions that could result from unsafe speeding in a non-patronizing manner. His professional and courteous behavior allowed me to relax and maintain my composure as I continued on my cross-country drive, which enhanced the safety of the remainder of my travels. His mannerisms clearly conveyed that he truly cared about my safety and not simply in enforcing traffic statutes. Trooper West’s devotion to duty reflected great credit upon himself and was in keeping with the highest traditions of the Utah State Patrol.” – J. Gadzala

Hello, I want to reach out and express my profound, heartfelt thanks to the Utah Highway Patrol that came to my rescue LT Perkins, SGT Wood, Trooper Blanknagel, and Trooper Lindsey. Thank You for helping me. At first, I was just a little nervous about getting help from law enforcement, considering that I’m Black and alone on the highway in Utah and the current “climate” of tensions. These officers quickly shooed away all the negative feelings I had. THEY ONLY CARED THAT I WAS GOING TO BE OK! It drove me to tears. They didn’t want to pat me down, search my car, or profile me in any way. They just wanted a brother to be ok. And their Call of Duty did not end there. They went above and beyond to get me back to my car after my emergency room visit. (My car was an hour and a half away.) Although I’m still very sick, I made it to Denver, CO, because of these Troopers’ commitment to serve and protect. The Troopers who drove me to my car were full of useful, excellent information about the citizens who live in that area and made great geographical and geological points of interest. Moreover, I noticed that they were pulling over the super-fast reckless drivers and left law-abiding motorists alone.” – Willie H.

“I wanted to publicly thank Sergeant David Moreno for what he has done for my family. David was the officer that informed us of my brother’s fatal accident. Sgt. Moreno has been incredible to my family through this tragedy. He took us to the crash site, explained what he saw at the accident, and has given my entire family a new respect for what UHP does every day. We are so grateful for Sgt. Moreno and all he has done for our family. Thank you UHP for what you do, and especially for having David on the force.”

Trooper J. Miller, Salt Lake County
“I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate the way Trooper Jed Miller treated me the other day. We were pulled over for a minor thing (my husband driving.) Trooper Miller could have just finished up quickly and sent us on our way, but he didn’t. He asked me by name to get out of the car. I was confused and worried, of course, but he had just wanted to make sure that our daughter and I were okay. He had noticed that I was jittery and there was a burn injury healing on my arm. He was concerned we were in danger. Very fortunately, my injury was an accident (me not being careful with a craft iron) and my shakes are a side effect of one of my medications. Also, my husband is a great guy and is kind to us. 🙂 But Trooper Miller had no way of knowing any of that and he made the call to intervene and protect us. I (and my husband, too!) love that he did that for us, and love knowing he’d do it for anyone. We’re safe, but heaven knows many families need to be saved. Bless you for caring, Trooper Miller!” – L.
