Tips to Prevent Drowsy Driving

This is Utah’s Drowsy Driving Awareness Week.

To kick off the week, we joined No Drowsy Driving and Zero Fatalities at a coffee break at mile post 54.

We see the consequences of drowsy driving crashes, and they can be deadly.

It’s never worth it to just keep driving.

If you get sleepy behind the wheel, pull off the road and find a safe place to rest or spend the night.

It may take a little longer, but it’s much better than being involved in a serious crash.

Here are some tips to help prevent drowsy driving.

To help prevent drowsy driving, get plenty of rest before a long trip To help prevent drowsy driving, schedule a break every 2 hours or 100 miles To help prevent drowsy driving, have caffeine and find a safe place to rest while waiting the 30 minutes or so for it to take effect to prevent drowsy driving, find a safe place to take a 15-20 minute nap To help prevent drowsy driving, travel at times you are normally awake and stay over night along the way if needed To help prevent drowsy driving, pull off at the next exit or rest are, or find a safe place to sleep for the night
